Concept
A few days ago, I came across an interview of Javed Akhtar on YouTube. He was asked that in an age of AI, does he think Art still has space in this world, to which he replied with the example of Fishing.
We all hear people say “Save the Tiger”. But have we ever heard the same about Fish? Fishing was always meant to be a holiday activity to feel calmness. Nobody calls it inhumane. This is all because of one reason - The Fish don’t shriek! It doesn’t have vocal cords to express itself. But Art- Painting, Literature, Music, Cinema, etc, these are the vocal cords of a society.
If we do not let our Art shout, cry, and express, then we will never be heard. Our silence will become the tranquility of somebody else, while we continue to remain victims. Unaware people are like babies who can’t understand right or wrong. It is us who have to speak up and let them know.
Thought-Process
A society without art is something that I would never wish for in real life. I wanted to catch this essence of a "not to wish for" scenerio using gore themes. Babies cannot be cute if they are shown craving for blood, while at the same time, babies don't understand cruelty or empathy unless they are taught to; metaphorically depicting unawareness amongst people. On the other hand, one cannot know if someone is in pain if they never speak up and express; Fish are a great example because they get killed without a single cry.
